Last month, 18 travel agents soaked up the sun at the action-packed Club Med Punta Cana for a FAM trip hosted by our Club Med BDM Robin Bear. They were joined by our Agent Development Specialist Chantelle Nye for four days experiencing this all-inclusive property and the Club Med brand.

The agents stayed at the sophisticated adults-only section of the property, Zen Oasis. Although the main resort was built in 1981 — it was the first all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana — the Zen Oasis side is just a few years old.

“The layout of the property is beautiful and very well-maintained,” says Chantelle.

A stay at Zen Oasis includes access to newly designed, spacious rooms, its own tranquil stretch of beach, and an oversized lagoon pool with wellness bar.

There is also a section of the resort is called Tiara, which is a boutique resort within the resort. These additional 32 oceanfront family suites offer private pick-up from the airport, concierge and laundry service, and other amenities such as flat screen TVs, free internet service and private patios. With its own pool, bar and exclusive events, this new luxury resort concept adds an additional dimension to an already exceptional family getaway.

Much of the FAM was spent in the main part of the resort, from the nightly group dinners and shows, to the Club Med training session, to the team-building activities.

Chantelle also led an open forum with the agents in which they discussed ways to make the most of their time on the FAM, handling problems in destination, and any other topics the agents wanted feedback on.

One of the aspects that came in handy was the Club Med Resorts mobile app, which is full of useful information for guests such as daily activity schedule, resort map, spa information and dress codes.

According to Chantelle, a full lineup of activities, entertainment and other things to do is one of the highlights at Club Med Punta Cana.

“There’s so much to do, and so many different things to do,” adds Chantelle. “It would be almost impossible to be bored there!”

One unique feature at the resort is CREACTIVE by Cirque du Soleil, which Club Med describes as a “creative playground inspired by the world-renown acrobatic shows.” Some of the agents even attempted some aerial gymnastics themselves!

The childrens’ and teens’ clubs are also phenomenal, due in large part to the energetic, engaging resort staff.

Other points of interest that might be helpful when qualifying clients for Club Med Punta Cana:

  • There are three restaurants on the property — two buffets and one sit-down restaurant. If having a variety of dining options is important to your client, this may not be the resort for them.
  • The main theater is large (it holds roughly 600 people) but is not air conditioned.
  • Club Med is a French-owned company, and the resort draws a largely European crowd.

Thank to you all of the agents that joined us for this valuable learning opportunity! For some, it was their first FAM experience, and we hope it was both memorable and beneficial to your businesses.
