Summer vacation: the time of year when families take to the road, skies, and seas to spend some quality time together. But finding the right vacation for a whole family can be a challenge. As a travel agent, you know that parents and grandparents are looking for vacations that can please everyone, no matter their ages and interests. It’s not always an easy task, but luckily Carnival Cruise Line has created their Fun Ships and itineraries with families in mind.

But what if your clients have never tried family cruising? How can you show them that a Carnival Cruise has the aspects they’re looking for and so much more?

What is there to do?

No parent wants to hear, “I’m bored,” especially when the whole family’s on vacation. Luckily, when you’re on a Carnival Cruise boredom is tough to come by. Active kids will find plenty of fun ways to run, splash, and jump the day away with activities like Sky Zone trampoline park, SportSquare, mini golf, and the WaterWorks slides.

Age-specific kids clubs provide plenty of fun activities and chances for young cruisers to make new friends. Camp Ocean welcomes young sailors ages 2 to 11 years-old for supervised ocean-themed activities. Older kids can find fun and hang out with their fellow tweens and teens in Circle “C” for ages 12-14 and Club O2 for teens.

The familiar faces of Dr. Seuss’s characters await the young and the young-at-heart on board too. From the Cat in the Hat to Thing 1 and Thing 2, the tales of Dr. Seuss come to life through the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, Seuss-a-palooza, and Dr. Seuss Bookville.

Most families know that when it comes to dining, finding somewhere that everyone can agree on can be a challenge. Carnival’s dining options are among the most diverse at sea,  with the main dining room offer a wide variety on their daily menu and specialty restaurants like Guy’s Burger Joint, Shaq’s Big Chicken, and Cucina del Capitano that add even more options to savor.

Remember to review the dining options with your clients so they know which restaurants are included in their cruise fare.

What are the ports like?

One of the biggest benefits of family cruising is seeing more than one location on the same trip. Carnival features ports-of-call in the top spots in the Caribbean and Mexico, including a few exclusive stops with Carnival exclusive ports-of-call that draw families back again and again.

One favorite stop for Carnival cruisers is the cruise line’s private island, Half Moon Cay. With crystal blue waters and white sand beaches, this Bahamian port is a dreamy tropical escape. Beyond the beach, families can get up close with stingrays, ride horses along the beach, and go snorkeling!

Amber Cove is Carnival’s port in the north of the Dominican Republic. It’s packed with activities and is set against the lush rolling countryside. The best part? A large pool surrounded by lounge chairs, waterslides, and ziplining are just a few minutes from the dock, so families don’t have to go far for a fun-filled day! Outside of the port, cruisers can embark on an ATV adventure tour, swim with dolphins, or splash underneath a waterfall before making their way back on board.

Where will we sleep?

Family cruising always brings up the question of who is sleeping where. Some cabins can sleep up to four guests, which may accommodate smaller families. For larger families, adjoining cabins or suites may be a better option. Be sure to ask your clients what type of arrangements they are looking for when you qualify them. It’s also important to remind them that to have their choice of stateroom, it’s best to book well in advance.
