Art is inspiring. It calls to us to sit back and think. It envelops us in moments of beauty, and it connects us with the thoughts and feelings of one another across the world and through the decades. It also is one of the most motivating factors for people to travel.

Many of us want to gaze up at the the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling, tilting our necks so that our eyes can admire the familiar scenes that Michelangelo painted centuries ago. We dream of searching through the shelves of stories in Shakespeare and Company in Paris for the foreign edition of our favorite tales. We hope to hear our own timid footfalls as they carry us forward to see for ourselves the swirling paint in Van Gogh’s Starry Night. We long to be swept away by the enchanting costumes, stories, and melodies on stage at the Sydney Opera House.
