The KHM Travel blog has already emphasized the importance of investing in FAMs, and offered valuable tips for surviving your first FAM as a travel agent. As the trip draws closer and closer, there’s another question that you’ll probably be asking… “What do I need to pack?”

Your attire will depend on the destination and resorts being visited, but remember you are attending to benefit your business. Pack professional, yet comfortable clothes and shoes for site inspections and then some dressier outfits for the evenings. Check out the resorts’ dress codes beforehand to make sure you follow their guidelines.

What else do you need to make the most of your FAM experience? Check out the recommendations below to keep cool, comfortable and organized on your next FAM trip.

Anker PowerCore Fusion 2-in-1 Portable Charger – You don’t want to miss the opportunity to take photos of a resort because your phone died! This charger, can connect to multiple devices at once, recharges quickly and can easily fit in your day bag! Just remember to bring a few extra power cords with you.

Double Canopy Travel Umbrella – When hopping around resorts, you never know when you may get caught in a downpour. An umbrella like this, that can be popped open with one hand, and is sturdy but lightweight will be a blessing during those spontaneous storms! The reflective piping is a welcome safety feature.

Travelon Crossbody Bag – Crossbody bags with external pockets work well for FAMs. They leave your hands free to take notes, quickly reach your phone for photos, and grab water when needed. This one is the perfect size — not too bulky, but roomy enough to carry all the essentials. Its thicker strap won’t dig into your shoulders, and can be adjusted to your liking.

Honeywell Laser Lite Disposable Earplugs – Especially if you’re rooming with another agent, earplugs can be a lifesaver. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential before each long, jam-packed day on a FAM, so give your senses a rest. These disposable earplugs are highly rated for comfort, and are brightly colored so that it’s obvious you are wearing them, and not ignoring your roommate!

Spigen Bluetooth Selfie Stick – Don’t worry…the stigma once associated with selfie stick users has all but vanished. Everyone uses them! Spigen’s features a non-slip grip, and compact design that allows it to collapse to just 7.3 inches. Just throw it in your bag, and bust it out for group shots or panoramic views.

eBags Packing Cubes – Yes, we are always pushing the packing cubes! On a FAM where you may switch resorts several times, they are perfect for keeping all your belongings organized and at least somewhat tidy.

Neutrogena Travel-Size Sunscreen – You will be in the sun on FAMs, and you will sweat. Taking care of your skin and re-applying sunscreen throughout the day is a must. Bring a few travel-size bottles with you and throw one in your bag each day. Bringing travel-size bug spray is also a smart decision.

Finally, do not forget business cards! You will hand out plenty of them on FAM trips to other agents, resort management, supplier hosts, and KHM Travel Group staff. The connections you develop during FAMs are nearly as important as gathering first-hand information about the destination!

On our event website, you can check out photos and read recaps from KHM Travel Group’s past FAMs to get an even better idea of what these travel agent trips are like.
