According to Passport Online, a provider of social media solutions and content, there are prime times for travel agents to post content on Facebook.

These five times got the highest engagement scores, which were determined based on Likes, Comments and Shares:

  • Monday at 4 p.m.
  • Friday at 8 a.m.
  • Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Monday at 7 p.m.
  • Friday at 6 p.m.

As for content, destination-focused content drew the most engagement, followed by posts that asked questions, conversation-starting posts, and posts focused on a specific celebration.

For example, the most commented-on post highlighted National Napping Day. Other popular posts for comments asked followers which Hawaiian island was their favorite, and which destination they’d like to visit most from a list of choices.

Graphics with inspirational quotes were also high on the list of most “Liked” posts. This included posts encouraging users to “Collect Memories, Not Things” and “Hang with the Locals,” which featured a photo of a sea turtle in Hawaii.

The report was based on a survey of 1,400 travel agent Facebook accounts, with nearly 1 million consumer followers.

While this study provides helpful guidelines for travel agents’ Facebook posts, knowing your specific audience is key.

Check out the ‘Insights’ tab within your agency’s business account page.

In Insights, under ‘Posts’, you can see what time of day you have the greatest number of followers online, and which posts they’ve engaged with the most. If more of your followers log in at night, then schedule your content later on, when they are most likely to see it.
